The area of Greenough is rich in history and nature. Just a short drive away you will find stunning scenery and historic locations to reward the traveller. Enjoy great food and coffee or relax over a quiet drink whilst stepping back in history. Explore the award winning Pioneer Museum located opposite the Cottage. The Central Greenough Historical Settlement is just a few kilometers away which houses the Visitors Interpretation Centre. Wildflowers in season are within a comfortable day trip.

A wonderful memorable experience enhanced by the friendliness of José and her husband who welcomed us like one of their family. The accommodation was superb and of the highest quality, full of character and old world charm.

Property

The cottage was originally built by John Patience who was the 2nd registered convict into Western Australia. John arrived on the first convict ship, the Scindion, in 1850 and built his home (Rock of Ages) in 1857 after getting his ticket-of-leave. He married Anne Criddle and they had 6 children. After the death of John, Anne married another ex convict, Tom Harrison, who extended the cottage to accommodate another 6 children.
