Holiday house

Wanyari sleeps a maximum of 8 people, including children . The house was completed early 2007 and has a relaxed contemporary feel. Downstairs are 3 bedrooms (2 with queen beds and one with 1 single bed with trundles under), a bathroom with bath, separate toilet, laundry, large TV/rumpus room and huge deck. Upstairs is open plan with a large kitchen with stainless steel work bench, dining area and lounge. The master bedroom is on this level with ensuite and separate/two way toilet. All the windows from this level have spectacular views of ocean, beach, sandblows, Waddy Point or bush. There is a large deck on this level with a spiral staircase that leads up to our roof-top viewing deck with some of the best ocean views on the island from Waddy Point to Sandy Cape. Great for whale watching from July to September. The house is environmentally sensitive and runs on 24 hour solar power, gas appliances and beautiful Fraser Island water. There is a gas BBQ on the middle deck and a fish cleaning table on the property. There is plenty of room for parking 4WDs and boats.

Fraser Island

Orchid Beach is a small village in the quiet north area of Fraser Island. It has fewer visitors than the busy southern end of the Island and is situated on the eastern beach just north of beautiful Waddy Point. World Heritage listed Fraser Island has many spectacular places to explore such as lakes, rainforest, sandblows, and creeks. It's also known for its great fishing. Its one of the best places to see the humpback whale migration from July to September and you can sit back on our roof top deck and count them as they cruise past. Drive over to the ever-changing white sand Wathumba Creek for a fish or put the boat in, or just sit and birdwatch or watch the sunset. Drive up to the wild and remote Sandy Cape, the northern most tip of the Island and soak up the solitude. Wanyari is the perfect base for experiencing nature with all the comforts of a modern house.

Whale Watching

Fraser Island is the perfect place to spot humpback whales during their annual migration between July and November. Our roof top viewing deck has huge ocean views and is a great place to watch whales. The numerous high sand dunes and the rocky headlands of Waddy Point and Indian Head are a short drive from the house and also make great whale spotting perches..
