Cottage

This new architect designed treetop beach house is situated at Orchid Beach at the northern end of Fraser Island. Orchid beach is sheltered from the prevailing south east wind and the lagoons around Waddy Point offer one of the few safe places to swim on the island. Orchid Beach is also the peaceful alternative to the popular tourist towns of the south.

Kyeema's private location and simple open plan design make it unique in Fraser Island. The house is solar powered and has ocean views over Orchid Beach.

Peaceful and relaxing. Lots of fishing, walking on the pristine beaches. The Beach House is set up for a couple who wants peace and nothing to do but listen to the birds and to feel as if they are in a tree house. We could not recommend a stay more highly Mike and Marilyn July 2010

Locality

Fraser Island lies just to the south of the Great Barrier Reef and has been formed over hundreds of thousands of years as waves and ocean currents carried sand from the far south-east of Australia. The island was formed as the sand was deposited over a low hilly terrain formed millions of years ago by volcanic activity. The result is a series of overlapping sand dune systems dating back at least 700 000 years. The shifting sands of Fraser Island continually conceal and reveal a unique geological history and are the longest and most complete age sequence of coastal dune systems in the world. From seemingly endless white sand beaches to majestic rainforests and pristine fresh water lakes, Fraser island is a unique “must see” eco experience.

Property

Kyeema's treetop location is perfect for those who just want to chill out and listen to peaceful ocean waves and the incredible variety of local bird calls. Large sliding doors open up to an unobstructed vista of the local bush and untouched flora. You'll feel like your in a tree house. In the winter months from July to September whales can be seen breaching, literally from the comfort of your bed or from the expansive outside deck area. Obscured neighbours and an absence of street lighting mean the stars are unusually brilliant and watching the moon rise over the ocean is always a memorable experience. The bathroom is interesting and almost outside in a screened back verandah. It has the luxury of a bath with a view (very unusual for Fraser Island).
