Frankston is the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula. An elevated boardwalk extends along the foreshore from the pier down to the boat ramp at the base of Olivers Hill. Views across Port Phillip Bay and north along the coastal suburbs can be enjoyed from Olivers Hill.

Frankston has a number of attractive gardens and parks including Beauty Park with its lake and jetties, the George Pentland Botanical Gardens, Ballam Park which features BBQ areas, sporting ovals and a historic homestead, and the Pines Flora and Fauna reserve in Frankston North.
