Cottage, Holiday house, Health retreat, Lodge
Blue Gum Lodge invites you in with a warm and friendly atmosphere and an open plan central living area with a wood burning Tassie Barrell fireplace. With extensive use of glass and decking Blue Gum Lodge makes the most of the beautiful sea views and the surrounding forest.
Blue Gum Lodge is set within 100acres of its own private reserve and is completely surrounded by native forest.
Within this secluded 100acres you will find a permanent running creek, the start of a waterfall and hidden valleys of giant Tasmanian tree-ferns.
Blue Gum Lodge is north-east facing with stunning views of Tasmania's coastline. Wake up to the sound of the kookaburras, stretch out in the morning sun and check the surf on the coast below.
If you don't feel like venturing too far from the safety of the deck you can simply enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. On dusk there are wallabies, pademelons and possums around the house, along with the occasional wombat. The bird life in summer is abundant drawn by the flowering grevillea's in the garden and at night the resident owls are often close to the house. During the day wedge-tailed eagles can be seen rising up the gully on morning thermals and soaring overhead on the westerly winds. Outside on the deck at night you can enjoy the magnificent view of the stars and Milky Way uncluttered by light pollution.
Blue Gum Lodge comfortably sleeps 6 adults with two double bedrooms and one twin room. All linen is provided including doonah's, blankets, pillows, sheets and towels. You can expect simple, spacious lodge accommodation with locally crafted rustic furniture in keeping with the nature of the surroundings.
Crystal clear Tasmanian rainwater runs from all of the taps. There is a large modern bathroom with an electric hot water heater, bathtub and a shower with majestic sea views. The kitchen has all amenities from an old wood burning Aga to a modern electric oven and is fully equipped for self-catering.
Total relaxation is what is on offer at Blue Gum Lodge...
We loved Blue Gum Lodge, You have created a little slice of heaven in the forest. The tranquillity & remoteness was what really struck us.

Location & Weather
Blue Gum Lodge is situated approx. 1hr 20min from Launceston airport (or approx. 2hrs 30min from Hobart).
Blue Gum Lodge is completely private, set within 100acres of its own forest reserve and surrounded by native forest. The closest towns are St Marys (10min) and St Helens (40 mins). From St Marys Blue Gum Lodge is 7km along an unsealed road which is navigable by 2WD vehicle.
Although Tasmania has a reputation for cold and rain, the reality is that here on the East Coast the climate is quite beautiful, you can expect clear sunny days around 20c on average (in summer around 25c and in winter around 15c). However if the weather doesn't meet your expectations you can retreat inside to the lounge where there is plenty of ready cut wood supplied to keep the Tassie Barrell fireplace going for the full duration of your stay.
