SILVER MEDAL 2010 South Australian Tourism Awards

Yondah Beach House really is the perfect beach hideaway. Set on 300 private acres with stunning sea views to Kangaroo Island, this gorgeous beach house offers style and comfort in a secluded and beautiful setting. You won't believe you're only 3 hours from Adelaide!

(For floorplan, photos and guest feedback, please visit our Yondah website).

Spacious and airy, the main living areas feature 4m curved ceilings and 'glass wall' windows overlooking the sea. French doors open out on to three separate decks, all cleverly sheltered under the main roof canopy so you can relax outside and enjoy the ever-changing views even when it's raining!

In summertime, the living is easy. Enjoy picnics and lazy afternoons on your own golden beaches. Grab a snorkel and play with curious baby fish in one of the nursery rockpools. Create a special dinner in your well-equipped kitchen, then dine al fresco. Sip drinks at sunset and enjoy a spectacular light show from the tiny deck-for-two. Then fall asleep gently, lulled by the sounds of surf and calling seabirds.

In autumn enjoy long golden days, the crisp fragrant sea air and the last of the summer flowers. If you're feeling energetic you can hike along the coast for miles! In winter, snuggle up in front of a roaring open fire while thunderstorms lash the landscape. Or rug up and enjoy a clifftop stroll - you might spot sealions rolling in the surf or a southern right whale breaching in the bay.

Spring is the best time for wildflowers. From July, native orchids and a myriad of other coastal plants burst into flower along the clifftops and the scrub becomes a carpet of vivid green moss dotted with wildflowers. Look for kangaroos and many bird species including ospreys, sea eagles, harriers, babblers, wrens and tiny pardalotes.

Yondah is truly a paradise for dogs. Well-behaved and beloved family pets are welcome!

"This extraordinary hideaway is absolutely magic. Beautiful beaches of white sand and blue waters with cosy little bays where we just sat and watched the sun set. The architecture of the house just blew us away - it is awesome and so very comfortable." Lyn & Ros

"We're having an absolutely wonderful time! This is the most fantastic place. Absolutely everything's superb." Ian & Freda

The sheer isolation of Yondah is what we fell in love with - so quiet and beautiful." Megan & Matthew

Things to see

Yondah Beach House is located on Yorke Peninsula's infamous shipwreck coast only 25 km from Marion Bay and the spectacular Innes National Park.

One of South Australia's jewels, Innes National Park has it all… truly spectacular scenery, clifftop walks, the Cape Spencer lighthouse and the historic mining village of Inneston. It is also home to more than 100 species of bird including the rare western whipbird and malleefowl. The Park's high energy coastline makes it one of Australia's great surfing drawcards.

Marion Bay is a pretty little coastal town with jetty, general store and long, wide beaches. Relax on the sand with the best fish and chips ever. Or enjoy a great lunch at the fully-licensed restaurant in the Marion Bay Tavern. Better still try one of their wood-fired pizzas for dinner, they're to die for!

and do...

Butlers Beach, only 4 km away from Yondah, is famous for its salmon trout and mulloway. If you're into deep-sea fishing, you can launch your boat from the natural ramp at nearby Foul Bay or you can hire a fishing charter for the day from Marion Bay.

If you're touring the Edithburgh area, take the south coast scenic drive towards Port Moorowie - it's quite spectacular. First you are treated to a very 'War of the Worlds' experience as you pass through the wind farm then you find yourself negotiating the winding coast road past the Troubridge lighthouse literally on the cliff edge and with no crash barrier!

Southern Yorke Peninsula is one of South Australia's key diving areas. The Investigator Strait Heritage Trail features 28 shipwrecks and a wealth of marine life. Look for sealions, seahorses, Port Jackson sharks, huge eagle rays and the rare leafy sea dragon.

House-trained and well behaved dogs are welcome inside the house, and water/food bowls are provided. We ask that dogs not be allowed to chase the wildlife and that owners pick up after their dogs.
