Holiday house

Easy access to Kennon Cove beach, picnic area and pier 300m. Two minute drive to Flinders ocean surf beach. Western Port is a safe, deep water harbour used extensively by pleasure craft, fishing boats and commercial shipping. It is also home to a large pod of Bottlenose Dolphins. The Western Port pilot boat is moored at Flinders pier, also used by nearby Flinders Yacht Club, visiting yachts and other craft.

Short walk to Flinders Village shops, hotel, cafés, restaurants etc., tennis courts, Bowling Club and Public Golf Course. Flinders, until 50 years ago just a fishing village, is part of Australian history through the voyages and charting of Matthew Flinders and as the base station for the first undersea cable linking the mainland with Tasmania. The George Bass/Matthew Flinders memorial is just 100m from Five Oaks.

Walk or drive along Golf Links Road through the Golf Course (Bass Park) and pass the West Head Gunnery Range and the Pilot Station. Detour down the cliff road to the ocean beach and the Mushroom Reef Marine Sanctuary. Mushroom Reef breaks the ferocity of the ocean waves and provides a sandy beach with safe swimming for small children. A variety of birds are attracted by the activity in the many rock pools.

Continue up the hill and see magnificent views of the rugged ocean surf beach. Pass the hang glider launching platform and car park near the sixth green where radio controlled model aircraft are often to be seen. Complete the circle back into Flinders Village past public tennis courts, park and very well-equipped playground.

Locality

The Mornington Peninsula, and Red Hill/Flinders in particular, is a renowned grape growing area. Many of the wineries have restaurants or tasting rooms attached. Boating, fishing, yachting and golf are other attractions. Five of Australia's best 30 golf courses can be found within 20 minutes drive from Flinders. Five Oaks customers get a 20% discount on Flinders Golf Club green fees.

Low period (To 15 Dec 2011, then 8 Jan 2012 to 13 Dec 2012, but not including Public Holidays): $300 per night, $1.800 per week. One night stays are available at $450. A Monday Tuesday Wednesday three night reservation is discounted to $600. There is a 10% discount for each bedroom not required and locked off. Sleeping capacity can be lifted from 9 to 11 for an additional $100 per night. Public Holiday reservations are subject to some special conditions. Ask the Manager for details.

High period (16 Dec 2011 to 7 Jan 2012): $500 per night, $3,000 per week. One night stays are available at $750. A reservation that includes New Year's eve must be for a minimum of five nights. Sleeping capacity can be lifted from 9 to 11 for an additional $100 per night.
