To help you with this name. No, it is not Aboriginal or South African, it was coined from "rude-are-we" by the original owners back in the 70's. We are not rude but we do seem to be stuck with the name! Rudawe specialises in group bookings. Our favourite group is the multiple Mums, Dads and Kids. The sleeping arrangements, facilities and equipment best suit this application. However, we have many satisfied customers who have stayed here from groups including sporting clubs, small business team seminar/bonding, hens nights, birthday buddies and of course, the extended family reunions. The 5 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms(unlimited hot water), as well as 2 large refridgerators and a deep freeze will cope with your crew. Two 18 person dining tables, one inside and the other outside on the balcony under the canopy, together with the fully equipped kitchen ensures that you will not be cramped even at full capacity. Equipment includes a 10x5ft. Billiards table and a matching timber indoor soccer table. The wide screen tv has all country channels as well as cd and dvd. These items along with the enclosed wood fire and the Bar are in the 40sq.mtr. rumpus room downstairs. Outside under the gazebo is the 8 person hot spa that is the favourite of all who stay here. You will see from the selection of photos in and around Rudawe that our main goal has been to make your stay fun, interesting and very enjoyable. Being a waterfront property, the Lodge has its own private pontoon for your personal use. This floating jetty is accessed by a 4wd track through the property to the Lake. Great for safe swimming and boat mooring.
Locality
The house is situated a stones throw from the Lake (when full) and the beautiful dense bush setting abounds with birdlife. The Taylor Bay area of Lake Eildon is unique in that access to the Lake is only possible through private land. Large signs on the no-through road entrance to the Bay declare that there are no facilities available to the general public. Taylor Bay is located just 7 mins. from Eildon and 15 mins. from the dam wall. Remember that when lake levels are low all the water is in front of the wall. Eildon is approximately 2 hours drive from Melbourne along the Maroondah Highway.
Property
The house is set on one acre of land that is on the edge of the Lake. Because the property is situated right at the end of the Taylor Bay "arm" your aspect is across a grassed flat area, which is ideal for sports and games, to the houses of other Bay residents nestled in the dense bush.

IS THERE ANY WATER IN THE LAKE?
Can we say a few things here in our defence:

1. Everytime there is a news report on Lake Eildon, they take a chopper up to Bonnie Doon and only film there. This is the shallowest part and 22kms from Taylor Bay.

2. Our area is only 8km from the Dam Wall which is obviously the deepest part of the lake. There is a huge amount of water here for boating and skiing. The boat launching ramps at the Boat Harbour and the Dam Wall (4wd) is only 15 minutes drive from the house.

3. The land in front of the house (normally underwater) is now a flat grassed field (mown) ideal for cricket or footy.

4. If the lake was full it would present a real danger of drowning for children unfamiliar with lakeside living.

5. We are contantly told by groups leaving, that the kids had a great time and were always occupied (even when it's raining). We feel that you will not have to rely on outside entertainment.

6. The numerious trails down to the lake shore are great for walks or bike riding.

7. The low lake level is fun to explor and fossick for artefacts.
