Cottage, Holiday house, Self-contained apartment

Lyrebird Dell is a gorgeous two-bedroomed cottage in the lovely sleepy village of South Durras. With luxurious linen supplied for all beds, an open log fire, king-size bed and beautiful furnishings, it's the perfect home away from home.

Snooze in the hammock, enjoy our wide selection of books, DVDS, CDs and videos, cook up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen, take time over dinner on the screened verandah, gaze at the flames from the open log fire at night and fall into the luxurious king size bed when you're done.

We pride ourselves on all the extras that make your stay comfortable. Our rates include coffee, tea, firewood for the log fire, linen on all beds, big fluffy towels, shampoo, soap, local phone calls and cleaning.

Look out the big north-east facing windows and chances are you'll spot kangaroos grazing in the garden or peeking curiously over the verandah. Wildlife abounds with possums, eastern grey kangaroos, swamp wallabies and common birdlife such as parrots, finches, honeyeaters and sea birds.

South Durras is an exclusive village of only 100 houses, surrounded by Murramurrang National Park, yet only 15 minutes away from Batemans Bay (four hours drive south of Sydney).

Things to do.

Venture down to the beach (only five minutes walk away) and enjoy kilometres of quiet sandy beaches, rockpools, headlands and daily views of dolphins swimming in the bay.

Explore the chain of private beaches tucked away in the National Park just south of Durras, either by car or by bike (you're welcome to borrow the two mountain bikes that come with Lyrebird Dell).

Make your way over to Durras Lake (2 km away) and discover one of the most pristine inland waterways in NSW. You can hire canoes at very reasonable rates from Lakesea Park or, if you prefer, you're welcome to borrow our old row boat or surf skis.

There are lots of great surf beaches around. The beach at South Durras is fairly quiet at the southern end (ideal for kids), but good surfing at the northern end.

If you love walking, Durras is a paradise. We supply you with maps, bushwalking books, a thermos and a water bottle -- all you have do is the walking!

For excursions, Bateman's Bay is only 15 minutes drive away, with lots of shopping, seafood, movies and holiday activities.

Access and Facilities

Lyrebird Dell has good access (six gradual steps down to the front verandah, then one step onto the verandah itself). The house is all one level, with a garage underneath.

In winter (when the South Coast can be chilly!), you can stay warm in front of the open log fire. Additional electric heaters, lined curtains, electric blankets and goose down doonas all ensure a comfortable stay.

We want you to enjoy your holiday, so we supply all linen, towels, doonas and pillows, as well as complimentary fine tea and coffee.

If you're able to stay midweek (any days other than Fri/Sat), then generous discounts apply.

Whilst pets are not permitted in the house and the yard is unfenced, Lyrebird Dell provides an enclosed, covered verandah, attached to the house, for your pet. In addition, just 500m away is an off-leash beach.
