This cottage was once used as the residence for the owner manager of a sawmill,(eco-friendly of course!). It is a large, comfortable and well maintained country cottage on 100+ acres with frontage to the beautiful Allyn River. Nestled in the foothills of the World Heritage listed Barrington Tops National Park this cottage is 'self-cater' and sleeps up to 8 persons.
Location
Allynbrook is especially well sited for you to enjoy the many features of the area. You can be here in approximately 2½ from Sydney via the F3 Freeway, Maitland, Paterson, Vacy, Gresford - all on tar sealed roads! We are ideally placed for outings to the Upper and Lower Hunter vineyards, Port Stephens, Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.
The Allyn valley runs through the rolling hills making up the southern slopes of the magnificent World Heritage listed Barrington Tops National Park. It is the smallest of the three southern river valleys, (Paterson, Allyn, & Williams) and its central location between the other valleys makes it arguably the hidden "gem".
The Cottage has -
4 tastefully appointed bedrooms (3 with Queen beds and one with 2 singles)
a large 'eat-in' country kitchen, well appointed and with everthing you need to cook a delicious meal should you decide to eat in
a large comfortable lounge room with TV, DVD (for those who are addcted) CD player, radio and a selection of books, cassette tapes, DVD's and indoor board games
1 bathroom, 2 toilets
large verandahs to enjoy the twilight over the hills, recount your adventures and perhaps savour some of the local vintage
outdoor barbecue area
For winter warmth and comfort there is an electric log fire, reverse cycle air conditioning, cosy quilts and electric blankets.
For the summer months there is air conditioning and additional fans in the bedrooms should you need them.
All linen and towels are supplied and there is complimentary Tea,Coffee and extras.
Please bring your own beach towels if you plan to go river swimming.
Town Life & AttractionsOur closest town is East Gresford, approximately 7 kilometres away and boasts a post office, general store, butcher, hotel, bowling club, 'take away' and 2 boutique wineries, (Camyr Allyn & Glendenbrook). And if you don't want to cook or barbeque, there is a family restaurant in the Hotel Beatty and Chinese and Australian meals are available at the Bowling Club.
Gresford is also home to a number of must see annual events - The Gresford Show, held in March each year and arguably the best after the Royal! The Easter Billy Cart Derby, Rodeo and Community Markets are held the third Sunday of every month.
Once here, you are:-
a short drive to Barrington Tops rainforests. Bring your walking shoes and take the scenic bushwalking trails. Gaze forever from spectacular lookouts and enjoy the abundant bush animals - how many have seen a pademelon?
within minutes of two boutique wineries with welcoming cellar doors and a good range of prize winning varietals and blends
a short scenic drive to historical towns, (Gresford, Paterson, Dungog, Morpeth) offering museums and galeries, local crafts, licensed clubs, hotels and eateries
a short drive to Allyn River and Mount Royal State forests
a short drive to Lostock Dam on the Paterson river - ideal for those who wish to wet a keel or line

Explore our property. Take a leisurely walk down to the river. Help yourself to a few oranges (seasonal). Take a book and read under the shade of the River Oaks, or perhaps just sit and listen to the river still time. You can do it all, or you can do nothing at all - it's your choice.
