"Mom, sis, her two kids and myself were very impressed with the self-contained cottage. It has everything we needed. We stayed for 5 nights and it was the best getaway we ever had. The island location was a pleasant surprise - stones throw away from Port Arthur, Richmond and Hobart. Even the drive to/fro the island through natural wetlands and across sandy causeway was refreshing and exciting. We were also intrigued by the evening visits of the resident marsupials looking for food during our stay! "

"The Steeles Island cottage was probably one of the best, most relaxing, natural places I have stayed. The self catering cabin is rustic and charming, with crisp white sheets and comfy beds. The views are second to none - your own private beach, and not another soul in sight - brilliant. The hosts are generous and helpful. "Nice spot to get away from it all with easy access to Port Arthur (try the dirt road - it is quicker), Richmond etc. Beach walks were a treat and it was nice to wake to the sounds of sea and birds. Get the kids to leave their shoes at the door to save too much sand inside!
(The "Dodgy Cafe" food is recommended if you don't want to cook.) "

"The cottage is great, right on the river and a good view of the beach. Very private, spacious and clean. Close to Hobart but away from the crowd. No traffic noise, just the sound of the waves breaking on the beach. It was the best all round accommodation I've found in Hobart area.

"Our stay at Steeles Island was perfect. The accommodation was warm and welcoming and very clean. Rozanne is an excellent host and the location of the cottage is perfect for beautiful bush, river and ocean beach views. There's easy access to the beach and the general store is nearby for any little things you might need if it hasn't already been supplied. The cottage is perfect for couples or a small family, while the house for large families or groups was absolutely outstanding. I would, and have, thoroughly recommend Steeles Island to anyone. We certainly will be going back. We also had our wedding ceremony at Steeles Island and have some beautiful photos we spectacular backdrop. We travelled around Tasmania, but no other accomodation felt as clean nor were the hosts as welcoming as Steeles Island. Its great to see what Rozanne and her husband are doing in creating such a beautiful atmosphere but retaining and building on the history of the island."
