We're a pet friendly B&B. If you bring a pet with you, please tell us the type and size. Large dogs to sleep outside undercover. You will not be able to let your pet run loose because of farm animals and our abundant wildlife. We do have a fenced paddocks for your horses (cattle fences). If raiding, bring your own insurance.

How to describe Edelweiss? 20 years ago it was an abandoned dairy. Made of durable concrete blocks, the main room was a 2 stand milking facility, the bathroom was the engine/generator room, one bedroom the milking machine and the spare room? I think someone lived there once. We stripped the building to just the outside walls and the roof. Added a new concrete floor, internal timber framing, installed insulation and clad walls and ceiling with knotty pine boards. Added lights and power points, installed plumbing, windows and doors. Did some landscaping, drainage, fencing and paving, we often wonder where all our energy come from. So what's it like, you ask? This is what one of our guest had to write. How to describe Eidelweiss? Cute & charming & everything nice!
The warm open fire does much to entice.
But there's more to come you'll soon realize. On the doorstep each morning a delicious surprise. Fresh bread & Danishes, a feast for the eyes.
If I stay here too long I'll double in size!
Rugged mountains & clear starry skies,
If life is a race, then this is the prize.

Locality

Dederang is a prospering dairy town in the heart of the mystic Kiewa Valley.
The Valley is notorious for dairy farms, vineyards, green tea, olive and nut orchards and it is a popular gateway to the Victorian Alps. We're 45Km South of Albury-Wodonga and 40Km North of the Mt Beauty Town. There are several interesting villages and places you can visit and enjoy. Please ask your cheerful hosts Vicky or Henry for guidance. The Cottage is located 1Km from the Kiewa Valley Highway, on the hill side just North of Dederang, in a tranquil and peaceful setting.

Property

What's there to see and do on the property? You can wander to lookouts and absorb the stunning views of the upper Kiewa Valley and the Victorian Alps. If you’re an early riser, you can spot wombats, wild kangaroos and enjoy our abundant bird life. You’re welcome to make friends with Lily the pet donkey (she loves dry bread and apples). You can admire our gardens, chill out on one of the benches or just walk along the made path.

There are easy walking tracks to lookouts and rest benches on the property. A more demanding walking track is nearby.

We love children. Because we're on a farm with domestic and sometimes wild animals, all children must be supervised by a parent or guardian.

The B&B is on a lifestyle hobby farm. We do have a pet donkey named Lily, she loves taking bread and apples from guests. We often have wild kangaroos and wombats on the property.

Fishing

Fishing spots available nearby, Local fishing knowledge available, Located less than 5 minute drive to water, Boat storage/parking available onsite.

There are some good fly-fishing fishing spots along the Kiewa River some 5 minute drive from here. Lake Hume, only 30 minutes from here, offers good fishing from shore or boat and a ramp is provided. Popular species: trout, yellow bellies, red fins and sadly carps.

Small dogs (less than 11 kg) are permitted, Medium dogs (11 kg to less than 34 kg) are permitted, Pets are permitted inside, Food and water bowls provided, Bedding/sleeping area provided.

We welcome small to medium dogs as long they're under supervision by the owners and not running loose. We're on a farm with domestic and sometimes wild animals, additionally our pet donkey does not take kindly to any dog or fox.

We're located 1hour drive to Falls Creek Snowfields, 1.5 hours to Mt Buffalo and just under 2 hours to Mt Hotham. Each resort caters for downhill and cross country skiing, snow boarding and tobogganing. Equipment can be hired on the way or/and at the resorts.
