All switches, mirror, bathroom basin, are are at approved height.
Touch light; light moveable outdoor furniture; paved access to BBQ area and all roads bituminised within propertyy are accessible.

Crabbes Creek Cottages, off Tweed Valley Way, provides a tranquil romantic retreat for jaded professionals, travellers, & lovers of tranquility & nature. It is also suitable for small family gatherings & occasions.

Built in 2004, each tastefully furnished, self-contained cottage, (one catering for disabled guests), is spread out over 20 acres of garden, creek & bush surrounds, ensuring privacy.

There are 2 dams & short bush walks through rainforest & bush. Enjoy rambling gardens, birdlife, picnic BBQ areas, walk to the licensed General Store or visit the nearby attractions of Brunswick Heads, Byron Bay, Bangalow, Billinudgel, Ocean Shores, Mullumbimby, Murwillumbah, Burringbar & Mooball.

Weekend markets are always somewhere close, & spectacular Wooyung Beach, with views from Byron Bay to Tweed Heads, is 7 minutes away.

Guests have access to a comprehensive DVD library as well as reference books on gardening, bush tucker & birdlife.

Quality eateries abound – choose fish’n’chips or award-winning restaurants. Neighbouring “waterholes” & festivals, like the Blues & Roots, Brunswick Fish’n’Chips Festival, provide entertainment in an area that boasts unsurpassed beauty & natural wonders.

Wireless Internet access is available at the front section of property, free of charge. Mobile reception can be problematic depending on location.

Locality and attractions


Crabbes Creek is a small rural village off Tweed Valley Way, the old Pacific Highway - a very convenient location to access the many beautiful beaches in the area.

Visit towns such as Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads, Billinudgel, Bangalow, Burringbar, Stokers Siding, Uki or Murwillumbah, or explore the natural coastal & inland wonders the Tweed area offers.

Crabbes Creek is close to a range of attractions such as Crystal Castle at Mullumbimby, Byron Lighthouse, The Victory at Mooball, & the many pristine beaches (in particular Wooyung Beach, South Golden) & riverways (New Brighton, Brunswick Heads).

Brunswick Heads, 10 minutes away, provides fishing, boating and great restaurants. Excellent golf courses, for example, Ocean Shores and Murwillumbah, are very close.

Customised 4WD drive tours to the Border Ranges and National Parks can be booked as well as surfing lessons, whale-watching, ballooning, helicopter rides. Guests can explore areas such as Mt Warning, Minyon Falls,Nimbin, Lismore, & still return for a relaxing evening in the beautiful surrounds of the property. Reception offers visitor information.

There is a licensed General Store, opened in 1890, and weekend markets always nearby. Guests may prefer to unwind by staying in with a DVD or borrow from the games or book library /exchange at Reception.

Property


Photographers, writers & artists are certain to find inspiration in this magical valley.

Guests on their walks through the undulating property might be lucky to see platypus sunning, be wooed by a wonga pigeon or watch echidna foraging.

There are endless nights when you imagine you can pick stars from the sky. The brilliant colours at twilight are accompanied by families of wild ducks flying to the dams, bush pigeons scratching for food & kookaburras & galahs winging their way to roost.

Depending on the season, guests can help themselves to plums, citrus, lychees, persimmons, mulberries, strawberry guavas, mangoes, macadamias, lilly pilly berries as well as vegies & herbs from the small but bountiful herb garden.

The six cottages are set in 15 acres of bushland with a creek meandering through many beautiful garden areas with picnic & BBQ spots.

Each cottage is positioned for privacy & the best aspect for views & weather conditions. It is an idyllic setting for small weddings & special occasions.

The cottages are approximately 2.74 kms down Crabbes Creek Road on the right. Call in at Reception, adjacent to the low set cream house with a cement driveway. A gate code is needed to access the property.

Built 2004 and fully approved by Tweed Shire Council . Ramp at side for verandah access directly from carpark (but also 3 steps to access verandah from front for other guests). Main BBQ area accessible and most of garden on the 15 acres. Nursing sill entry at sliding doors. King single separate beds allow flexibility and can be adjusted lower or higher. Pull down long bench seat in bathroom which is described as big enough to do wheelies in! Low set basin, mirror, approved tapware and more than specified handrails.
General Store has wheelchair access and several reataurants in Brunswick Heads close by.

Adult retreat


Adult retreat, Tranquil and quiet with no interruptions, Privacy from other guests in living and activity areas.

While children do occasionally stay, the 6 cottages are positioned within their own gardens and scattered over several acres so are very private. If you specify privacy, thwen the most appropriate cottage will be allocatted.

Art therapy classes are conducted here by private tutors. Moo Moo Stitches, the local craft store in Mooball, a few minutes away, conducts regular workshops with nationally well-known tutors - participants stay at Crabbes Creek Cottages.
The local markets are a great source of art and craft items and gifts.

Beach

Wooyung beach is the closest - pristine, with views to Byron lighthouse and Tweed Heads. About 10 mins drive. The entire far north Tweed coastal area is easily accessible from Kingsliff, to Wooyung and Byron Bay is 20 mins south. Many surfing schools, and closest patrolled beach at Brunswick Heads, 10 mins drive south.

A high chair is also available at no additional cost. The property offers expansive lawn aras for play, well away from any public roads. Beautiful beaches are within a 10 minute drive.

Information is available at Reception and from local papers . There is a Museum in Tweed Heads as well as Fingal Head Aboriginal and Islander Cemetery off Barney's Point, Chinderah Cemetery and Cudgen Burial ground.
Some trees on the property provide bush tucker and there are numerous farms which specialise in native flora for medicine and tucker.

Too numerous to mention - Byron Bay is 20 minutes south with many art galleries, Bangalow 30 mins and Tweed Regional Gallery is in Murwillumbah, 20 mins north. Guests have gone to exhibitions in Brisbane in a day! Tweed tourim publishes a Tweed Art trail brochure. Lismore is another popular spot for art enthusiast.

Pet friendly


Cats are permitted, Small dogs (less than 11 kg) are permitted, Medium dogs (11 kg to less than 34 kg) are permitted, Large dogs (34 kg or heavier) are permitted, Pets are permitted inside.

This is a large rural property which is fully fenced but not dog-proofed. Each cottage is surrounded by expanses of lawn and separated by gardens, but they are not fenced off individually. The 2m wide verandah can be barricaded with a wire mesh gate - just request one. Cottages at the back of the property are elevated and larger pets can be comfortable there if guests need to go out solo. Some bedding for a small to medium dog is available, as well as bowls, but guests are asked to provide their pet's bedding and needs when possible. Additional sheets can be provided to cover the lounge. There are cows on the adjoining property. Two unfenced dams and a creek area here are always are a delight for dogs, and there are beaches close by to walk dogs. Pets should be treated for ticks, especially at certain times of the year.

Couples love the privacy and quietness here. There are many restaurants close by that specialise in intimate evenings. The property has small intimate weddings on request. Guests can request items like champagne, choclates for a particular celebration - but the General Store is also close by.
