"Located in a secluded garden overlooking a valley, this is the place for a good night's sleep and for enjoying a starry sky. The house was tastefully furnished in a French provincial style and equippe..."

Cottage, Bed & Breakfast, Self-contained apartment

Providence Cottage comprises an open-plan 'cooks' kitchen and living area with two double bedrooms and a shared bathroom. It is furnished with a mix of new, vintage and 'found' objects and is surrounded by a terrace which overlooks the village one side and on the other, woodland where wallabies live.

Enjoy the comforts of the cottage which is warmed by panel heaters throughout- or wander down to village with its secondhand book and junk shops for a coffee or a meal at the pub.

Locality

Clunes was the site of the first gold discovery in Victoria in 1851 and many of its buildings and shops remain untouched, giving it a unique, ‘lost in the mists of time’ appeal.

It is also well known for its annual Back to Book Town Festival (May 5-6), when thousands of rare and secondhand books are on sale and historic buildings are open to view.

Most small towns in the area have a monthly market. The Talbot Farmer’s Market (on the third Sunday every month) is a particularly good one and only ten minutes drive from Clunes.

Around half an hours drive away are the wineries of the Pyrenees Region (a most enjoyable way to spend more than half a day), the well-known tourist destinations of Daylesford and Hepburn Springs (with trendy cafes, antique shops and lush therapeutic spas) and the bustling regional centre of Ballarat.
