Christmas Tree Cottage is a former Sydney Olympics house in a rural setting, only 15 mins to Canberra and 30 minutes to the airport. For the wine buffs there are up to 12 wineries within a 20 minutes drive.

The self-contained cottage is available for rent as indivdual rooms or the whole cottage for short or medium term accommodation. Each room has its own private front entrance and own bathroom/toilet. The cottage provides spacious accomodation suitable for groups or individuals. The cottage has a wood fire as well as reverse cycle heating and cooling in all rooms. Guests have the use of a shared TV room, with DVDs and videos to entertain the kids and adults. The shared kitchen family room is fitted with a large fridge, microwave, oven and cooktop, as well as cookware, cutlery and crockery. A few cooking basics are supplied and filtered drinking water is on tap.

There is a fenced secure backyard for kids and pets.

The 10 acres with dams immediately around the cottage is available for you to pursue outdoor activities. You are also free to explore the whole thirty acres, which has wetlands with dams that is in the development stage, numerous birds and Australian native plants including orchids and fringe lilies. For the active there is a 2 km walk around the farm past dams, open native grassland and Christmas Trees. The dams have been stocked with native fish and visitors are welcome to try their luck at catching one in competition with the resident Pied Cormorant and the kingfishers.

Local Attractions

Away from the farm but within a half hour drive you can visit some of Canberra's tourist attractions such as the War Memorial, National Art Gallery, Parliament House, National Museum, Questacon, Cockington Green, Federation Square, AIS, EPIC, Lake Burley Griffin and Lake Ginninderra and shopping at Civic, Gungahlin and Belconnen Town centres.

There are country pubs and restaurants within a 10 mins drive from the farm or the choice of a variety of restaurants a 20 mins drive away in Canberra.

There are up to a dozen wineries within a 20 minute drive radius and Lake George is only 10 minutes away.
Further a field the South coast and the Snowy Mountains are only a 2 hour drive away.

Markets

Markets such as the Farmers market, Bungendore, Trash & Treasure, Gorman House and Gundaroo Markets are on at various times. Check with your hosts regarding times and venues.

Small dogs (less than 11 kg) are permitted, Medium dogs (11 kg to less than 34 kg) are permitted, Large dogs (34 kg or heavier) are permitted, Pets are permitted inside, Secure, fully fenced running area, Bedding/sleeping area provided, Other domesticated animals reside at the property.

Pet dogs are welcome to stay for free and guests must provide bedding and food for their pet. Please let us know the number of dogs, size and breed when you are booking. Barbara (host) is allergic to cats and therefore we can't accept cats. As for other types of pets please discuss with us. The cottage has an enclosed yard and guests must check that the yard is fully secure, if not to take mitigating action. Dogs are allowed in the cottage but they must not get onto furnitures or beds. There are 31 acres for you to take your pet for a walk. Dogs can enjoy a swim in the 3 dams. Children are free to run around the farm with their pet dogs. Owners must take full responsibilty and control of their pet dogs in consideration of other guests who may be staying there. Owners must pickup after their dogs and clear their droppings etc before they leave. Plastic bags are provided to assist you.

Rooms and rates

The cottage has 4 bedrooms and sleeps up to 8 persons comfortably. The cottage is available for rent as individual rooms or as a whole.

There is a huge ensuite Queen Room with a connecting Twin room on request. There is also a Twin and Double room each with its own toilet and bathroom. Each room has its own reverse cycle cooling and heating system and its own private front entrance and designated bathroom/toilet. A cot is available on request. Linen and beddings are all supplied.

Family suite rates (only available up to 7 days before arrival, unless booking both suites):
Pet fee: $10 per night per pet (excl dogs kept in travel cages)
One night: Up to 2 persons at $130 per night. Extra person $25 per night
Stay 2 nights or more: Up to 2 persons $120 per night. Extra person $20 per night

Please settle your account on arrival in cash, Visa or MC. A charge of 3% applies to the balance outstanding for credit card payments

Cancellation Policy:
(1) If you give more than seven (7) days notice of cancellation before you are due to arrive, only your booking deposit is payable.
(2) If you give less than seven (7) days and more than twenty four (24) hours notice of cancellation before you are due to arrive, your booking deposit is payable and 50% of the tariff due for the remainder of your booking is payable.
(3) If you give less than twenty four (24) hours notice of cancellation before you are due to arrive, or if you do not arrive, the total tariff due for your booking is payable.
(4) If you change your booking requirements with less than (7) days notice resulting in a shortfall in tariff to the proprietor the shortfall is payable unless agreed to by the proprietor.

These charges apply to accommodation that is booked and then cancelled. The applicable amount is charged, without notice, to your credit card or by retaining monies paid in advance.
