Locality

Nestled on a secluded beach away from the rest of the world, ROSE BAY RESORT offers the perfect getaway to relax & enjoy peace and tranquility. Situated on absolute beachfront of award winning Rose Bay, with unsurpassed sea and island views over the sparking turquoise waters of the Coral Sea you will be totally mesmerized by the proximity of the ocean. With only a few footsteps, you will find yourself in a tropical holiday paradise.

Blessed with a tropical climate of sun filled days, Rose Bay Resort in Bowen is located 40 minutes north of Airlie Beach, the gateway to the 74 magical Whitsunday Islands and Great Barrier Reef.

Bowen Travel offer transport to/from Proserpine (Whitsunday Coast) airport located 1 hour south of Bowen. Alternatively fly into Mackay (2 hours south of Bowen) or Townsville (2+ hours north of Bowen) and hire a car for your holiday. Virgin Blue and Europcar offer specials regularly on their website. Car hire is also available in Bowen.

Bowen also has a small light plane airstrip a few minutes from the town centre for private plane use.

Bus services call into Bowen daily and Bowen Transit have regular scheduled services to Rose Bay. Taxis are available in bowen and a number of the Hotels/Bistros/Cafes offer a courtesy bus to allow an enjoyable, carefree and safe evening.

Activities in Bowen

With the Coral Sea as your front yard, you could lose yourself for hours snorkeling, fishing, swimming or taking one of the many bush walking tracks to discover more of Bowen's pristine beaches. Have a round of golf on the beachfront Queens Beach Golf Course.

Diving and snorkelling activities can be booked by Reception. Fishing trips are also available.

Stroll through the town to view the Murals recounting the colourful story of Bowen's history. Wander through the Markets at Queens Beach or Hansen Park (March-December) or join a social game of lawn bowls at one of the 3 Bowling Clubs.

Dine at Three Sixty on the Hill Restaurant with fabulous views, or enjoy the well known Horseshoe Bay Cafe for lunch or dinner. Grab a special deal at the Grandview Hotel in town, or some local fresh seafood to enjoy in your apartment.

Visit the specially constructed birdwatching Hide at Mullers Lagoon where over 200 different species can be found.

Summergarden Cinemas provide the latest movies daily in either ultra modern style seating or the heritage Cinema 1 with that "yesteryear feel".

Visit the Bowen Historical Museum including an original settlers cottage.

Skatebowl, BMX track or Rollerblading at Queens Beach and roller skating at the Municipal pool complex.

A 1 hour drive to Collinsville to experience the Coal Face Experience will take you through the farming areas and visit the Bush Retreat at Binbee to handle some of the local wildlife.

See crocodiles in their natural habitat in the Proserpine River with bookings for tours available at Reception. Take a cruise from Airlie Beach for the day, returning to Bowen for peace and quiet at night.
