Holiday house, Bed & Breakfast, Guest house
Just a short two hour drive from Adelaide, Portee Station is in Outback country, 10 minutes from the river town of Blanchetown, within easy reach of Adelaide by car, or perhaps you prefer light aircraft... if so, Portee has its own EYRE strip, named in memory of the early explorer Edward
John Eyre whose home at Moorunde in 1841 was in sight of the windsock.
Portee Station Homestead provides guests a historic outback riverstay experience.
We offer two types of accommodation:-
Bed & Breakfast accommodation. (Lunch and dinner can be provided-must be pre-booked).
Exclusive hire of Portee Station Homestead. Self cater in our commercial kitchen or bbq facilities for special occasions or holidays with family and friends. We have a dining area to seat twenty and facilities to enable outdoor eating.
Great for small business training, conferences or work dinner functions for up to 16 persons
The homestead, built in 1873 on the floodplain of the River Murray, is in the wetlands, allowing the abundant bird life that inhabit the slow flowing stream and age old river gums to provide an educational experience in a unique, tranquil, and restful setting.
The Murray River fronts the property and the homestead has a private (Portee) creek surrounded by wetlands.
The development of Portee as a tourist destination provides guests with "experience" opportunities, combined with comfortable accommodation, and country style meals.
Experience real life on an "Outback Australian" Homestead. Do as much or as little as you like
This was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Australia. You made us feel like a part of your family.
(Davy and Mary Kay Hino, San Franciso, California. U.S.A.)
Your property, the dreamland like nature around, the incredible light, the wildlife, together with your personalities, opened the door a little bit for us to look behind the curtain into what dreamland might be.
(Marlis and Karsten Kuhn, Berlin, Germany)
