Bed & Breakfast

Bali Indra Retreat is something a little bit different in the wonderful Adelaide Hills. It is a one couple retreat with ensuite spa bathroom, luxurious queen size bed, dressing room, lounge and dining areas and a fully equipped kitchen and laundry. So you will never want to leave. The front verandah is decked and a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine over looking the gated gardens. A pathway meanders to the rear courtyard where you can soak up the sun and enjoy a bbq and listen to the tinkling of the Balinese fountain.
We provide you with sarongs, incense and candles so you can create your own Balinese ambiance. A healthy vegetarian/vegan breakfast is provided but if you would like the carnivore option with a full bacon and eggs brekky, just ask us! We have various packages to suit your needs and budgets. Bali Indra seeks to have a smaller carbon foot print so we have enviromentally friendly and human friendly amenities and products. You may pick your own herbs and when available vegetables from your own private garden. Guided Meditation and Oracle card readings are also available by appointment. Birdwood is ideally located in the Adelaide Hills and is only 30 minutes from Hahndorf, the Barossa Valley and only 20 minutes from the Murraylands.Adelaide is only a 40 minute drive and you are surrounded by a bevvy of wonderful local attractions.

Set in private gated gardens to ensure you are able to relax in comfort. Both the front and rear courtyard are fenced with privacy screens and we have ensured that all areas of Bali Indra Retreat are to help our guests feel that they are in their very own private retreat.

Eco friendly with the emphasis on creating a smaller footprint. We have recycling and Bokashi kitchen waste system that provides natural fertiliser for our gardens.We are a vegetarian bed and breakfast and grow herbs and seasonal vegetables in the garden for our guests to pick. We use rain water from our tanks for watering and have planted a sustainable garden that is native and drought and frost tolerant. We encourage our guests to use only one set of towels to save on energy in laundering and to preseve power. We hope to have solar panels and a grey water system in the near future. Our bathroom toiletries and cleaning products are all vegan and biodegradable.

In Birdwood we are home to the infamous National Motor Museum and there is also a large Motor Bike Museum and a Toy Museum too. The Birdwood Gallery is home to many local artists work and is also an information centre.

Being in the Adelaide Hills we are a short distance from a bevvy of wonderful wineries and of course the Barossa Valley is only 20 minutes away for a fantastic day trip.

Winter Holiday

Bali Indra Retreat offers reverse cycle heating that keeps the cottage warm and cosy. Outside in the coutyard you can light your own private fire in the brassier and we have an undercover sheltered patio to keep you dry and still enjoy the outdoors.
