Sorell is a thriving village with all facilities within close walking distance. Only 8 mins from Hobart Airport, 20 mins from Hobart, 10 mins from Richmond and 60 mins from Port Arthur. Sorell has a dangerous and romantic past - bushrangers roamed the area and raids on the settlers by the original inhabitants were common. You can follow the Convict Trail through Sorell and sample fruit fresh from the farm, wine and wonderful dining locally. Local seafood is in abundance and available for purchase from the nearby oyster farms.

"Everything you need is here - old mixed with new blended well" G & T Portelli.
"How can you improve on perfection?" G. Hodges.
"Wonderful, wish we were staying longer..2yr old LOVED the garden to safely run around, very relaxing" D. Newitt.

LocalitySorell is the gateway to the South East and East Coast of Tasmania. 20 Minutes from Hobart, 8 minutes from Hobart Airport, 10 minutes from Richmond, 30 minutes from Orford and 60 minutes from Port Arthur.
Sorell provides a country village atmosphere close to the convenience of the main Hobart City Centre, an easy drive at any time of the day. "Sorell Barracks" is located in a quiet street paralell to the main road so all facilities (including pub just around the corner) are within close walking distance. There is a fish and game park close by for the hunters and fishers, a fruit farm - great fun for the family, wineries, sea charters, diving, golf courses, fantastic food and beautiful scenery. Bellerive Cricket Ground is only 20 minutes away.
A great base to explore everything that Southern Tassie has to offer! PropertyThe building was originally thought to have been built in 1827 but has been found on local maps as early as 1824 so is as old as the famous Richmond Bridge.
It is the oldest building in Sorell. It is a stone terrace, thought to originally house the military personel needed for the infamous "Black Line" conflict between 1824 and 1831. It was neglected for many years but restored sympathetically in the 1980's.
The upstairs rooms are delightfully set up with a lounge area, bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The downstairs spa cottages are charming each with two separate bedrooms offering a variety of accommodation. The spas are large and very comfortable for two!
Every effort is made to maintain the colonial atmosphere. The gardens are gorgeous and draw many comments from our guests. There is fruit to pick in season - figs, quince, apple, apricot, almonds, peaches and nectarines. The gas barbeque provides a wonderful chance for guests to meet and enjoy each others company but we provide small nooks for outside eating.
