MISSION BEACH (Wongaling Beach is one of 4 beach areas) is approx 1.5 hours drive south of Cairns or 2.5 hours north of Townsville. If you are coming south FROM CAIRNS use Bruce Highway (main directions will say to Townsville) travel approx 1 hour and reach Innisfail, stay on Bruce Highway, approx another 20 minutes see turnoff to Mission Beach on left at El Arish. 10 minutes later after driving thru rainforest you will pass Hardware Store etc and see sign to Wongaling Beach, Cassowary Drive, turn right then approx 4 kms you will come to shopping centre and Mission Beach Resort. Turn left into Wongaling Beach Road then first street on left Coolabah Street (Blarneys Restaurant on corner) then 2nd street on left is Spurwood Close and Tropical Escape B&B is first house on the right….phew
If travelling north FROM TOWNSVILLE Bruce Highway to Tully, 3 kms from Tully turnoff to right to Mission Beach, stay on same road until you get to Wongaling Shopping Centre, turn right into Wongaling Beach Road, left first street on left, Coolabah Street (Blarneys Restaurant on corner) then 2nd street on left is Spurwood Close. Tropical Escape B&B is first house on right.
(If you fly to Cairns and don’t hire a car you can arrange a bus transfer from airport which will bring you to our door, however, this is only available between certain hours and MUST be prebooked in advance. Please contact us for further details if you wish to avail this service). McCaffertys (Greyhound) coaches also come to Mission Beach, please advise us if you are coming by coach for further assistance.
