Bears Went Over the Mountain, Geeveston, TAS

The Bears Went Over The Mountain started life as the Commercial Bank in 1908 and was the first bank in Geeveston. In fact for many years it was the only bank in the far south of Tasmania.

Bears Went Over The MountainThe theme of this bed and breakfast reflects the interest of the owners in bears and teddy bears. To wit they have named the accommodation after some of the great teddy bear manufacturers of the early 20th century. The Chiltern and The Steiff both have ensuite facilities and The Merrythoughts has a spa ensuite.

For bear cubs there is the Bears Bunk Room which is themed on a forest cabin.

The guest lounge is spacious and comfortable, having an area to simply relax or play cards or boardgames together with friends and enjoy a fresh coffee or
perhaps a glass of wine. At your leisure you can peruse the cabinets of antique and collectable china, glass and teddy bears.

The Bears is a perfect place to unwind and is just a few metres to two excellent restaurants and all town facilities. It is central to all the great attractions and the magnificent scenery of the far south of Tasmania.  It is ideally situated for visiting the acclaimed Tahune Air Walk, Hastings Caves and Thermal Pool, hang gliding and of course the magnificent Hartz Mountain.  The Huon also
has some excellent award winning wineries. Definitely a 'must' visit.

Room rates include a choice of gourmet cooked breakfasts and each room has a mini bar and hospitality tray.

The owners have just completed upgrading and maintenance and returned from a Bear hunting expedition ie: looking for new 'family'
bear members to add to the 1000+ already in residence.
