Cottage, Holiday house

2008 & 2010 FINALIST - TAKE A BREAK BEST PLACES TO STAY

From the generous deck of this 3 bedroom beach house, you can gaze out onto the casuarinas overlooking the lagoon. Listen to the waves breaking on South Rosedale beach, a 2-minute level stroll from the house. Or step down to the water-side deck. You could read a book, watch the native ducks go past, or watch the fish meandering about.

During the cooler months you'll find Rosedale very pleasant, especially if you live inland - peaceful, a good 5 degrees warmer than Canberra, reaching up to 20 degrees during the day, and evenings nice and cosy courtesy of our luxurious reverse cycle heating system.

Your dogs can play in the back yard (fenced on three sides but not along the lagoon), or take them for a walk along the beach. No problem! Right up until the end of October dogs are allowed off-leash 24 hours a day along most of South Rosedale beach. Check current times on the sign at the entry to the beach.

We have a large kennel set up on the deck just adjacent to the dining room window, although we are happy for small dogs to sleep inside, in their doggie baskets.

If you've got small kids, they could try their hand at fishing down on the little jetty at the bottom of the garden, where you can easily keep an eye on them. Get the tiniest hooks you can find, a small float and sinker, put a tiny dab of prawn on the hook and let them try their luck.

PLEASE NOTE: You will need to supervise small children any time they are in the back garden, given the water frontage.

To make sure you're comfortable, the house is appointed with a polished hardwood floor, glorious reverse cycle heating, a Sony Bravia full HD TV (providing ABC, SBS and Imparja, a mix of 9 and 10 network programs), DVD player, dishwasher, microwave, BBQ, washing machine and clothes dryer.

The house is kept spotlessly clean, and we provide all your normal kitchen and bathroom consumables.

Locality

Rosedale is one of the few remaining secluded and natural locations on the south coast. Generously provided with native vegetation, this small and peaceful community has no shops at all.

However, the day-to-day things you'll need are within reach, with shops at Malua Bay just a 5-minute drive away. For restaurants, cafes, cinema and general shopping therapy, Batemans Bay is 20 minutes away via a pleasant drive along the coast.

Rosedale offers great walks along the beach, or more vigorous walking up to the Guerilla Bay light-house.

Don't miss the Saturday morning markets at Moruya - take George Bass Drive to the south for magnificent views of the Moruya River and the mountains in the distance.

The Eurobodalla Botanical Gardens are well worth a visit. Located about 4 km south of Bateman's Bay (or 5 km north of Mogo, the Gardens are open from Wednesday to Sunday.

The small community of Mogo is also worth a visit - a good spot for ice-cream, coffee, and a ramble through the shops. To get there from Rosedale, drive 4 km south to Tomakin, then take the road to Mogo.

About 1 km from Mogo you will see the Mogo Zoo - another good place to visit.
