Holiday house, Self-contained apartment

Derwent retreat is ideally located close to a shopping centre, the Glenorchy CBD, some of Tasmania's largest employers and the best tourist attractions north of Hobart including Moorilla, Alpenrail, Cadburys, Bonorong Wildlife Park, Richmond, Salmon ponds and the Derwent valley. Golf and Bowling facilities are close by.

Derwent retreat is rented short to medium term at competitive rates and is suitable for business people looking for a somewhere to stay, a retreat or quiet place to work or holiday makers keen on sampling the many attractions that the Hobart region is famous for.

Derwent retreat is fully furnished, has a fully equipped kitchen and laundry, barbecue, towels, linen, TV, etc. Wireless broadband and computer facilities are provided.

Young mobile children or others that require supervision must be supervised by an adult. Our properties are not designed for wheel chairs.

There is an outside pet enclosure with a kennel however pets are not allowed inside. Smoking inside is prohibited.

The setting is serene and beautiful. The home spacious and comfortable. To have had a longer stay would even have been better.

Was lovely to be in such a quiet, peaceful place. Even enjoyed the occasional train! Enjoyed the house and appreciated Barb's hospitality. Thanks - hope we come back for a longer time one day.

A grand house in an idyllic setting. Enjoyed the space, the comfort, the view and the relaxing environment. Great bbq too. Would love to come again.

Locality

Derwent Retreat is set in a historic area with many old building including Austins Cottage, probably build around 1810. On or adjacent to the property are a basketball court (non professionals only), swimming in the Derwent, boating or just walking in the parks. If you bring a bike you can use it!

The Derwent provides opportunities for white water canoeing or jetboating further upstream at the historic town of New Norfolk or enjoy a more relaxing time playing golf or bowling at local clubs.

Tasmania is endowed with every activity possible from jetboating to skiing, from mountain climbing to some of the best walking in the world. Snorkelling or surfing, fishing or just snoozing on a beach are all within an hour or so of Derwent Retreat. For those who like dining, nightclubing or gambling, Hobart’s inner suburbs of North Hobart and Salamanca are just a 15 minute drive away and Australia’s first licensed casino, Wrest Point is just a 20 minute drive away.

Salamanca market is a must on Saturday and Moorilla winery is very close to spend the afternoon listening to jazz and tasting their wares. Book a tour of the Cadbury chocolate factory and indulge in chocolates, visit Al[penrail or Moorilla. All are within easy reach of Derwent retreat.

Property

Derwent Retreat is self contained and fully furnished modern house with absolute waterfront, ample parking and great views.

All rooms have majestic views of the Derwent river and Mt Wellington. It has a master bedroom with queen sized bed and ensuite with shower and toilet. A second bedroom with a double bed and bedroom with two single beds are served by a second bathroom and separate toilet.

The property has a modern fully equipped kitchen with microwave, hotplates, stove and fridge. The laundry has a washing machine and dryer. On the balcony there is a gas barbecue and an outdoor setting. All linen and crockery are provided and there is a TV, stereo etc., central heating or wood stove for warmth, a local call only telephone. The garden has many natural rock features and small basketball court for relaxation.
