Locality

Centrally located on the edge of the Atherton Tableland Golden Triangle, outside the highland drizzle, and just over an hours drive from the Cairns Airport. We are nestled amongst many natural wonders of the Atherton Tablelands, and are privileged to be just minutes away from wineries, coffee plantations, wildlife viewing, and many more local tours and attractions (not to mention a cheese and chocolate factory). Barking Owl Retreat is also minutes from Tinaroo Dam for Waters Sports and Barra Fishing and a short drive from Yungaburra for Fine Dining and their famous markets. We also have a large variety of beautiful Australian Native Birds and Wildlife at our doorstep.

Getting there

Coming from Tolga, head towards Kairi on Tolga-Kairi Road, then turn left on to Hough Road, 500m prior to Stockman's Hall of Hay.
Coming from Atherton, turn left on to Tolga-Kairi Road, and then turn right on to Hough Road, about 500m past Stockman's Hall of Hay.
Follow Hough Road 4km to the end (as we are the last property) look for Rural No. 409 at the left of the gates.

Barking Owl Retreat is a small cattle fattening property with droughtmaster steers (cattle), 3 Farm dogs, (Two Terriers & and Australian Red Cattle dog), and Chinese Geese. You will be able to interact with the dogs and get very close to the cattle and Geese at feeding times.
