This cosy , traditional Tasmanian sea-side house is the highest on the South side of Arthur River . The Northerly , elevated outlook gives both a magnificent view of sea , river and bush and plenty of sun , which can be enjoyed inside or on the large deck . The beach by the river mouth is an easy walk away .

Arthur River is a very small community surrounded by conservation park , so wild life abounds , even around the Cottage . This includes wombats , devils and quolls which are out and about most at night . The wild costline of rocky outcrops and sandy beaches is easily accessed by side tracks off the road that runs parallel to the coast , North and South of Arthur River .

The recently built main room of the Cottage has a well equipped kitchen and dining and sitting areas . A second sitting area has a wood-fired stove ( wood provided ). Part of this area can be used as a third sleeping zone .

There is a laundry , enclosed garage and sheltered sunporch . The bathroom and and WC are separate from each other . There is quite a large , grassy garden between the Cottage and Airey Street/Drive-(it is confusing , as both these names are used ) .

Arthur River has only a very small shop . The nearest supermarket is in Smithton , 65 km away . Arthur River Cruises operate most days , except in winter -arthurrivercruises@bigpond.com , to take you 15 km up the untouched river into the pristine Tarkine . Self-drive boats and canoes are also available for hire on the River .

Arthur River offers one of the very best opportunities to experience the coastal wilderness of the West Coast . It is the only village that is right on the edge of the Southern Ocean and is easily reached from the North on an excellent sealed road . Though quite isolated , is very well positioned for enjoying the North-West corner of Tasmania .
As well as incomparable access to the coast , it is easy to drive inland to experience the Tarkine and to visit the historic Western part of the North coast on a day trip .
South of Arthur River , the road is gravel , but sufficiently well maintained to be suitable for a standard 2 wheel drive car . This road , the Western Explorer , provides a varied and delightful drive to Strahan and places further on , such as Hobart .

The main room combines kitchen , dining and sitting areas . there is an adjoining second living area , part of which can be curtained off and which has a fold-out sofa bed .
One bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the other a single and 2 bunkbeds . All linen and bedding is provided . A folding cot and high chair are available on request .
