Ararat is situated on the Western Highway, about midway between Horsham and Ballarat. It is an ideal stopover for those travelling between Melbourne and Adelaide on the Western or Pyrenees Highways. The Colonial Lodge Motel is just a kilometre from the Ararat railway station.
