In the afternoon, sit on the banks of the Chapman River and catch fresh bream like the early settlers of years gone by. Kayak along the river and enjoy the serenity and the diverse birdlife of this significant wetlands area and one of South Australia's most pristine rivers.

This location has been almost sacred to locals for over 100 years due to its beauty, peaceful seclusion and windless character. There are many interesting walks through significant wetlands, swamp gums/native tea trees, Lashmar Conservation Park as well as the stunning Antechamber Bay beach, where your footprints may be the only ones on the beach the entire day!

And if that's not enough...then there is the rest of the island to be explored!

Clever eco-design including separate, shared uniquely designed toilet and shower facilities. Eco-features include: solar-powered, solar-heated hot water, waterless, odourless toilets and interpretive signs to complete the experience.

Great for families, and couples or limited groups (we like to limit the number of people staying at any one time) looking to stay and enjoy the area or to make as a base for KI adventures. Something different from your mainstream holiday with minimal impact on the environment.

Kayaks are available to paddle along the Chapman River.

Other fun activities include bushwalking, bird and wildlife watching, swimming, beach fishing, river fishing... and of course relaxing and enjoying the serenity.

Direct access to the spectacular, secluded 4km beach of Antechamber Bay where you are likely to be the only one there.

Wine tasting, coffee, cake and light meals available at Chapman River Cellar Door within walking distance from the property.

Dudley Cellar Door and Sunset Winery, both a short drive from the property.

Cape Willoughby Lighthouse tours operate daily (10 minute drive).

Lashmar Lagoon and Conservation Park are both within walking distance for walking and bird watching.

This property is beachfront, Less than 5 minutes walk to the beach, Less than 5 minutes drive to the beach.

Just a short walk over the sand dune and you are on the magnificent 4km white sandy beach of Antechamber Bay. Some days your footprints will be the only ones in the sand!

Birdwatching

An extensive array of waterbirds can be seen at nearby Chapman River or Lashmar Lagoon. Superb Blue Wrens, Yellow tailed glossy black cockatoos and Crimson Rosellas are seasonal visitors. A small penguin colony on the western end of Antechamber Bay Beach is also a feature.

Bushwalking & wilderness

Our property is bordered by the Lashmar Conservation Park which is run by the Department of Environment and Heritage. Bush walks through the park are permitted and a coastal walk to Cape Willoughby lighthouse can be organised by prior arrangement.

Eco-friendly

Building designed along eco-lines, Building made from ecologically friendly materials, Bio-cycle or equivalent waste system., Solar powered accommodation, Bio-diverse setting, Ecological activities nearby, Ecological information and activities on site, Recycling facilities available.

Our property is fully solar powered with low voltage lighting and 12vt appliances throughout. Austrailan-made Liemack fridges are used in the cabins. Rainwater is collected from all buildings and stored in a series of interlinked tanks for use in the cabins and Amenities Centre. Hot water for showers is solar heated. The Australian-made Nature-Loo toilets are waterless and don't smell! Each cabin has a set of recycling containers which can be emptied into the apprioriate bin at the recycling centre near the Amenities Centre. All building on the property was done so as to preserve wildlife corridoors and recycled materials were used wherever possible.
