The Motel had the pleasure to host Their Royal Highnesses, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, during their Royal visit to Alice Springs in March 1983. The Prince of Wales and Princess Diana stayed in the two suites of the (at the time) newly completed Gap Hotel Motel. Prince William, the Royal Couple's nine month old son accompanied them on the tour.
