There's lots of see and do at the farm, especially for children, who can play in the wide open spaces and learn all about farm animals and where our food comes from.

We have a hay ride around the property that all the children (and lots of adults) love. Every day there are animals to feed, eggs to collect and cook for breakfast, milking to be done and if you are lucky you may see a calf being born. We often have small animals we are hand rearing, such as lambs and goats. Everyone can have a try at bottle feeding.

All our cattle work is done with horses, so you may see some mustering during your stay. For group bookings of 6 adults of more, we can show you how to get cattle ready for the show ring, including washing and blow drying and teaching to lead.

With 500 acres to explore you can enjoy a relaxing or strenous walk around the property. Set back from the road about a kilometre, means that your children are safe from traffic.

In the evening, it's a great time to relax on the varandah and take in the beautiful night sky, which is totally unspoilt. If you don't want to cook, we offer a home cooked three course evening meal, which can be served after the children have gone to bed, allowing you to make the most of your evening together.

If you want to explore the local area, then Gloucester is a great place to visit, offering cafes, restaurants and quaint shops. You can canoe in the Gloucester River, head up the road to the horse riding ranch, climb the Bucketts ranges, or visit the World Heritage Listed Barrington Tops. Barrington Tops is an ideal setting for a family picnic or for bush walking where you might spot some of the local wildlife.

We at Ashmar offer you a no rush break from every day routine.

The cottage is set in a lovely country garden and has a BBQ in a covered courtyard. The garden is a wonderful place for you to enjoy the peace and quiet and to watch the many native birds and the nearby grazing cattle. Peace and quiet is assured as Ashmar has only the one cottage - you do not have to share this wonderful experience with anyone!

You can also enjoy a relaxing massage, here at Ashmar, with our local massage therapist, or visit the local open garden where you can enjoy the beautiful plants and flowers and a light lunch, before heading back to the farm.

Ashmar is a self-contained heritage cottage set in a beautiful country garden with spectacular views across our property and beyond.

Designed and built with comfort and convenience in mind it includes 3 bedrooms sleeping up to 12 people, a 3-way bathroom, well equipped timber kitchen and laundry (second toilet) with washing and ironing facilities.

Plus there is extra accommodation with a double bedroom, extra bathroom and sitting room ideal for the Grandmother and Grandfather's retreat. This is available when more than 6 adults are staying.

During quiet moments enjoy the colour TV or in-house video or simply sit and relax while taking in the fabulous scenery. During the cooler months make yourself warm in front of the crackling wood fire.

Included in the tariff are linen, towels and all cooking utensils for your convenience. We supply butter, milk, bread, sugar, tea and coffee on arrival, and an old fashioned cuppa awaits you.

While Ashmar is a self-contained cottage, meals can be prepared.
