Day 1
Meet & greet & town tour
Day 2
Ewaninga Rock Carvings. Old Ghan line to Bundooma. Alice Well on the Hugh River. Remnants of the Overland Telegraph Line, Chambers Pillar for our 1st camp & reflection on Stuart & his heroic men.
Day 3
Enjoy sunrise over Chambers Pillar. We travel across country to Rainbow Valley, returning to our explorers route along the Hugh River through Waterhouse Range, then return to Alice Springs.
Day 4
8.00am Northwest along the Tanami road. MacDonnell & Chewings ranges. Leave the main gravel to access the northern end of Stuarts Pass via private Cattle Station Track.
Day 5
Today walk, in the footsteps of John McDouall Stuart, into Stuarts Pass. Provides an excellent opportunity for birding, journal writing, photography, sketching/painting, Reflection on the valour of our heroic explorer.
Day 6
Stuarts Pass to Anna’s Reservoir.
Tonights bush camp amongst River Gums & Birds 100 metres from Anna’s Reservoir, where the ghosts of Stuart, Kekwick & Head impart to us the importance of this life saving Rock Hole.
Day 7
East along Private Station Tracks as we continue to reflect on Stuart & his men. Easy travelling along Stuarts namesake “The Stuart Highway” to Central Mount Stuart. In the lea of this important landmark we will enjoy another 2 night Bush camp.
Day 8
As Stuart did, this day offers the opportunity to forge a journey to the top of Central Mount Stuart.
Day 9
Once again we enjoy the comforts of the modern highway, through Tennant Creek to Attack Creek. Offroad to an area very close to where Stuart, Kekwick & Head were confronted by Warramungu tribesmen, in defence of their Billabong
Day 10
This journey would not be complete without a stop at the Tennant Creek Telegraph Station.
Day 11
Morning explorations of Tennant Creek attractions. Now back in the modern era, we journey southwards to Alice Springs.
